To give it a more natural wood texture, I covered the wands in Elmer's wood putty and lightly sanded them down before using glue gun and painting.

The Elder wand was done by rolling the wand and adding hot glue in one spot, let it cool then add some more as needed. Takes some patience. Need to keep rolling it to keep glue in place, kinda like glass blowing.

I must say that these wands are totally superb. They look like movie props, you must have had a load of fun making them, and good idea on the wood putty.
