Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

A beautiful draco inspired bookplate for you to download and use in all your most treasured books
The design for your high quality bookplate has been taken from one of our traditional imprints, seen here on the flyleaf of one of my most treasured books, Dictate Biologica et Mos Draco. Click on the image to see a larger version of the book. See below how you can download this wonderful bookplate for use in your own library.
he ownership of books is a wonderful thing. As you grow, your collection of books grows with you. Books received as presents, the first books you could actually read yourself, books you have bought because you just had to have them, or books you bought because you needed them to complete a course of study, or for research on a particular topic. As your library grows, the collection itself gathers a meaning and tells a story of its own, beyond that of tales captured within the pages of the volumes. When you run your eye along the spines of all your books, you see how the collection defines the stages of your life. Certain dog-eared volumes recall fond memories of holidays idly spent on the beach, avidly reading through a gripping story, or bring back the emotions of evenings listening to your dad or mum reading to you at bedtime, or dare it say it, even memories of fun times had at school with friends in your favourite classes; but as your collection grows, how do you mark you books to make sure that they don’t get mixed up with anyone else’s? In many cases, just writing your name on the flyleaf of your book may be adequate, but for special books, but there is of course, a more elegant way of doing things.
. . .
Since the 15th Century bookplates have been used to mark a book’s owner. A bookplate is a small piece of paper, usually illustrated and inscribed with the words, Ex-Libris, which is Latin for “from the books of”, and the name of the owner. The idea of printed bookplates originated in Germany, which is little surprise, as it was the German, Johannes Gutenberg, who invented the moveable type printing press which made affordable book publishing a possibility in the first place. Throughout the centuries, bookplate design has reflected the artistic and social trends of the age, and today, the hobby of bookplate collecting has a considerable following.
. . .
Now you may join the long list of famous authors and library patrons who have used bookplates to assert their ownership of important works, by downloading and printing out a sheet of bookplates of your own. The design of this special bookplate has been based on one that I had my bookbinder design for me over 100 years ago, in my early efforts at modernising the Sir Richard Barons Library, and has been in use since that time. Once printed out just write your name neatly in the space provided and glue carefully on the flyleaf or inside cover of your books. As usual Collinworth has made certain that the download is available in both A4 and United States Letter format, for your convenience.

The Dragonry
 |
|

For all those who may think, in their more reckless moments, that it might be easier to steal a golden egg from under the warm belly of a gently sleeping dragon than would be to make one, it might be wise to heed the text of this ancient rhyme...

Here you'll find so much more than dragons; you'll find projects that make it possible to create fantastic stories and games of your own. Every project is totally original and explained with simple illustrated downloads so that you can do the project together or (depending on age) your child can do it on their own, with a little help from you at key stages, and make something that really looks gorgeous.
All the projects are of the highest quality, because quality and attention to detail are very important to children.
So set your imagination alight with our wonderful dragons projects. Follow the story of Kaptin Scarlet, the famous philanthropist, whose 19th Century adventuring to bring back numerous weird and wonderful artifacts was the delight and fascination of civilized Victorian society. His motto, Life is Your Adventure, is as true now as it ever was, and is perfect for kids and dads everywhere, so make it yours and make the most of the time you spend together.
