Cautionary Tales For Children
Wonderful witty poems great for reading to your children. The stories and rhymes will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Research has shown how important YOU are to your children and how as a dad the things you do, and keep on doing, really count, whether you live with them, or you are a single dad and are only able see them once a month, once a week or more, what you do really matters. This site is dedicated to all dads but will be of special relevance to the single dad. Remember, you are half the reason your children exist and they need you whether you live with them or not. As their dad, you have what it takes to make their lives successful and fulfilling no matter how often you see them. This site is about all the positive things that we as parents have to offer our children.

Make a Golden Dragon Embryo and help me unravel its Tibetan secrets

make your own Golden Dragon Embryo

The priceless golden embryo was wrapped in two 10 Sang banknotes for two years to hide it from detection and stop it falling in to the wrong hands.

Dragonry illustrated letter W ay back when, before even I was born, when dragons were a common sight in our skies, the trade in dragon related artefacts was slow. With the exception of rare and therefore highly prized items, which occasionally turned up in the better auction houses, and fetched quite sizable sums, mundane dragon articles were considered as no more than ephemera and dragon traders scraped a difficult living.
. . . In the late 1900s as governments round the world passed laws restricting the free traffic of almost all dragon related materials, and as normally happens in such cases, interest in all things draco dramatically increased. By the turn of the 20th Century, dragonries began to spring up everywhere, offering a wide range of licensed common or garden dragon by-products.
. . . For wealthy and discerning collectors, products you can buy in the High Street are not of the remotest interest. The result of this was that while dragons still existed, for nigh on 20 years, I was almost constantly employed by a number of illustrious patrons whose desire to own the impossible was only matched by their ability to pay vast sums to mount ever more daring expeditions. You may well have read about my exploits to bring back the fabled Golden Filigree Egg Case or heard stories of my trips to secure dragon hide from the most unscrupulous Tibetan hidemerchants, but during the Second World War I took a break from hunting down artefacts for Europe’s royalty and evacuated to safer realms.

Together with the Golden Filigree Egg Case, the Aurified Dragon Embryo is under lock and key and on display by appointment only.

However, it was in 1943, when the World had been at war for four years, when I made the greatest discovery of my life. Since the beginning of the war, I had kept a low profile, for despite my spritely step and youthful look (courtesy of Chaimberlain’s Long Life Linctus), and numerous decorations for valour in the Great War twenty five years earlier, I had been excused army service on account of my age. After all, it is hardly dignified, nor expected of a gentleman in his nineties to be taking up arms. Instead, five years earlier in 1938, anticipating the then imminent invasion of Poland, I had closed up the house after the summer, and taken a small contingent of staff to the safety of a remote Tibetan monastery, where I planned to write and develop a few of my inventions while the world’s leaders battled it out.
. . . During that time I kept up my interest in dragon paraphernalia, and with the help of some willing locals began the scientific study of what I now know to be the last breeding pairs of Tibetan Lungs anywhere in the world. Throughout that time I collected oddments and interesting artefacts from the surrounding countryside. One such piece was a beautiful egg shaped stone. One day, quite by accident, I knocked it, and being round, it rolled off the table, where it had been doubling as a handsome paperweight for almost four years. It cracked with a sickening thud on the flagstone floor. When I picked it up, it seemed to crumble away in my hand, exposing a perfectly formed dragon embryo. The filigree egg case might be rare, but examples of the Aurified (turned to gold) Dragon embryo are priceless. Even as I looked at it, I knew that I was beholding something that very few men had ever set eyes on. The exhaustive research I have conducted since, has revealed that there has been only one other known example, and that one was lost in the firestorm that destroyed the Great Library of Alexandria in 48 BC.
. . . Needless to say, I made no mention of my extraordinary find to anyone, feraring that it might be stolen from me or that I might be prohibited from taking back to England. I carefully wrapped the piece in two 10 Sang banknotes and buried it in one of my numerous luggage compartments.
. . . I was bewitched by the beautiful little dragonette. How had it become auified? Why was this process so rare? How old was the piece? Each night for the next two years, when no one was about, I took the small icon from its hiding place and studied it by the crude oil lamp light that was the monastery’s sole form of night time illumination.
. . . Later, in 1945 when we returned to England, I confided in Collinworth and together for the next 60 or so years we have searched for an answer to these questions, but such is the rarity of the piece, our queries remain unanswered. Perhaps you can help. I have had some simple directions drawn up which should help you make a faithful copy of the tiny golden Dragon Embryo, and once you have done so, you might study it and gain an insight which has escaped my endeavours.
. . . If you do, I would be more than glad to hear from you, however in the meantime please find the directions available for printing in either A4 or United States Letter format for your convenience.
